The weather is beginning its final descent into something approximating tolerable, and that can mean only one thing: itโs time to go festinโ. Ah yes, the coffee festival, a full day of drinking entirely too much coffee, only taking breaks to grab a nosh or two and to attend an educational session about your favorite subject. And in the nationโs capital, the DC Coffee Festival is making its inaugural appearance Saturday, September 30th and it is bringing with it a whole host of local coffee roasters.
Though this is the first installation of the DC Coffee Festival, it has a pretty tried-and-true blueprint to follow. Craft Hospitality, the brand behind the festival, has previously organized the San Francisco Coffee Festival, which will celebrate its seventh edition later this year. And the schedule of events in DC hews pretty close to those from their West Coast counterparts.
At the center of the event is the 25+ coffee roasters who will be in attendance, serving up caffeinated goodness for all to enjoy. Participating roasters include Red Rooster Coffee, Small Planes, Black Acres, and Vigilante Coffee, with more to be announced in the coming days. And of course there will be non-coffee options like Rishi Tea & Botanicals, Topo Chico, and Smart Water. There will be food trucks and live music for those looking for a bit of a come down from all the caffeine.
It all gets started at 9:00am on Saturday, September 30th at Dock 5 at Union Market. Tickets start at $29 for a single session general admission pass, which gains you entry and access to all the coffee you can handle, and go up to $69 for an all-day VIP pass that gets you early entryโat 9:00am, general admission starts an hour laterโas well as access to both of the dayโs sessions. They can be purchased via the DC Coffee Festival’s website.
So gird your stomachs and prepare yourselves for a day of over-caffeinated good times. For more information, visit the DC Coffee Festival’s official website.
